Background
The AEG name
In 1881 Emil Rathenau acquired the licence for Edison’s patents. In 1883 he founded the Deutsche Edison-Gesellschaft für angewandte Electricität, which became the Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft, AEG, in 1887.
In the decades before the First World War, AEG and Siemens & Halske were the leading electrical companies in Germany. Power plant systems, turbines, generators, transformers and motors were among their core products.
Our AEG generator is a free industrial interpretation, not a replica of a specific machine. L005 shows it covered under a draped tarpaulin with tie-down straps, L006 uncovered.
